This legislation represents a major and reckless escalation in New Jersey’s abortion and gender-transition policies while creating serious concerns regarding constitutional freedoms, parental rights, and conscience protections.
Supporters claim, e.g., Planned Parenthood, that this bill merely protects access to health care. But the actual language of the legislation goes far beyond that purpose.
Science clearly states that no one is born in the wrong body!
The Cass Review is an objective scientific source. The study validates what has been happening throughout Europe and Great Britain. Most of the Scandinavian countries, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland, have all rejected the decades-long positions on supporting and advocating transgender treatment for minor children.

S2260/A2218 creates broad new criminal and civil liabilities connected to “interference” with reproductive and gender-affirming services. The vague and expansive language raises legitimate concerns about the chilling effect on peaceful protest, sidewalk counseling, pro-life advocacy, religious outreach, and protected speech activities.
The bill also authorizes lawsuits, financial penalties, attorneys’ fees, and additional enforcement powers that may be weaponized against ordinary citizens, churches, ministries, and advocacy organizations.
So will detransitioners who openly oppose surgical mutilation of children simply because they believe the false assumption that they may be born in the wrong body be subject to criminal prosecution in New Jersey?
Equally troubling is the repeal of parental notification provisions involving minors and abortion. Parents should not be pushed aside when life-altering medical decisions are involved.
S2260/A2218 further codifies sweeping gender-affirming care protections while insulating these activities from certain interstate legal actions. At a time when many states are actively debating the long-term medical, ethical, and psychological implications of these procedures, New Jersey should not rush to expand legal shields and reduce accountability.
Rev. Gregory Quinlan, founder and President of the Center for Garden State Families and a retired nurse, stated: "The bill’s radical claim that unborn children — embryos and fetuses — have zero independent legal rights under New Jersey law is both morally bankrupt and scientifically false. Real science is unambiguous: the moment sperm meets egg, a new human organism exists with its own complete set of 46 chromosomes. This is the genetic signature of a human being — nothing else on the planet matches it. S2260/A2218’s embrace of this fiction is a direct gift to Planned Parenthood, stripping any recognition or protection from the most vulnerable among us."
Regardless of one’s position on abortion or gender ideology, every citizen should be concerned when government power expands in ways that may burden speech, conscience, parental involvement, and religious liberty.
S2260/A2218 is a reckless piece of legislation that ignores the dignity of every human being. Particularly the most defenseless and innocent among us. This bill is vile! It is poorly written, unconstitutional, and ripe for a lawsuit should it pass.
Take action now, urge your legislators to VOTE NO!
