Luminosas Wellness Collective is a planned nonprofit clinic in Hudson County aiming to open as early as 2027. Co-founders are Dr. Kristyn Brandi (OB/GYN) and Catherine (Cathy) Obando, MSN, NP-C. Both publicly identify as queer Latinas. The clinic plans all-trimester abortion care (reported up to 34 weeks), HIV support, comprehensive gynecology, and gender-affirming treatments. These include referrals and services related to cross-sex hormones and surgical procedures, offered alongside medical care and holistic/“woo-woo” practices (ceremonies, tarot, crystals, ancestral healing, reiki, acupuncture, as described in their September 2026 Substack).
In their Substack post “Why is it called Luminosas Wellness Collective? Aren’t you an abortion clinic?”, the founders describe themselves as “a little woo-woo” and reference Cathy’s “witchy history.” They plan integrative services that blend abortion and gender-affirming care with alternative modalities.
New Jersey has no gestational limits on abortion and no statewide restrictions on gender-affirming medical care for minors or adults. Recent legislation (S2260, signed August 2026) expands shield-law protections for both reproductive healthcare and gender-affirming care, including services to support alignment with gender identity or expression. While standard medical practice generally requires parental consent for minors undergoing hormones or surgery, school policies in parts of the state have allowed social transition without parental knowledge or notification (some of which have faced successful parental-rights challenges). The clinic’s model emphasizes bodily autonomy and culturally responsive care for marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ patients of all ages.
New Jersey has directed hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars toward family planning and reproductive health services that encompass abortion and related care. Luminosas has primarily sought private grants and donations so far, but the broader funding ecosystem supports providers offering these services to in-state and out-of-state patients. Critics, including Center for Garden State Families President Rev. Gregory Quinlan, warn that New Jersey is becoming the abortion capital of the East Coast while expanding access to irreversible gender procedures for minors.
The Center for Garden State Families opposes elective abortion and the use of taxpayer dollars for elective abortions or gender-affirming medical interventions on minors (especially without full parental involvement). Public funds should support genuine healthcare, pregnancy support centers, and parental rights—not expand clinics that combine later-term abortion with gender interventions and New Age practices.
Take action now. Contact your New Jersey state legislators and the Governor’s office. Urge them to:
Prohibit taxpayer funding for elective abortions and gender-affirming medical procedures (hormones, surgery referrals) for minors.
Require parental consent and notification for all such care involving minors.
Demand transparency on clinic funding, patient residency, and services for out-of-state patients.
Support limits on late-term abortions and prioritize life-affirming alternatives.
Signs will be provided.
Stand for Faith. Defend the Family. Protect Our Children.
New Jersey’s families need a voice. Will you help us make it heard?
The Center for Garden State Families (CGSF) is sustained entirely by the generosity of individuals like you. We receive no support that can replace the commitment of concerned citizens who believe that faith, family, and freedom are worth defending.
We are a Christian family advocacy organization grounded in Judaeo-Christian ethics and the principles of natural law. Our nation's Founders recognized these enduring truths in the Declaration of Independence when they appealed to “the laws of nature and of nature's God.” We believe these principles provide a foundation for protecting human dignity, strengthening families, and preserving the freedoms upon which our nation was built.
Today, those principles are under pressure—and silence is not an option.
The natural family, founded on the union of one man and one woman and the raising of children, is a vital foundation of society. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins, and extended family members all play an important role in supporting the next generation. Families deserve the freedom to live according to their convictions and raise their children without government interference that undermines their rights and responsibilities.
Yet across New Jersey, we see growing challenges to parental authority, the protection of unborn life, religious liberty, educational freedom, and the values that help families flourish.
This is why the Center for Garden State Families exists—and why we need your support now.
We stand in the public square to:
Defend human life from conception to natural death and advocate for the protection of the unborn.
Protect children from policies and ideologies we believe threaten their well-being, dignity, and future.
Uphold parental rights and defend parents' primary responsibility to direct their children's upbringing, care, and education.
Promote educational freedom and challenge the promotion of controversial ideological agendas in taxpayer-funded public schools without appropriate respect for parental rights and family convictions.
Defend religious liberty and the right of people of faith to live and speak according to their beliefs.
Fight oppressive taxation and stand with New Jersey families struggling under the state's heavy tax burden.
From local school boards to the New Jersey Statehouse and the halls of Congress, we work to ensure that your concerns are heard where decisions are made. We attend public meetings, testify on legislation, educate citizens, and mobilize concerned families to contact their elected officials.
But this work takes resources. Research, public education, legislative advocacy, communications, and grassroots mobilization all require financial support.
Without you, our voice is weaker. With you, we can stand stronger.
Will you make a tax-deductible gift today?
