π¨ EMERGENCY: NJ Bill S2260 Will Silence Free Speech, Endanger Children β Vote NO May 28
Strongly oppose S2260 and urge your State Sen. to vote NO on the Senate floor.
While framed as protecting "reproductive health care," this bill goes far beyond and represents a serious threat to core constitutional rights, particularly First Amendment protections for free speech, peaceful assembly, and religious liberty.
Key Concerns:
Chilling Effect on Free Speech and Peaceful Protest: The bill criminalizes certain forms of "interference" with access to facilities, including broad provisions that could encompass video recording, distribution of information, or expressive activities within buffer zones. This risks turning peaceful advocates, journalists, and concerned citizens into criminals for exercising their rights to observe, document, and speak out on matters of public concern.
Overreach on Gender-Affirming Care for Minors: By shielding providers of gender-affirming interventions (including for minors) from out-of-state actions and professional accountability, the bill prioritizes ideology over evidence-based caution, parental rights, and child safeguarding. Many medical experts and European reviews have raised serious concerns about the long-term harms of puberty blockers and irreversible surgeries on minors.
Undermines Interstate Cooperation and Parental Rights: It creates a "sanctuary" framework that could obstruct legitimate inquiries from other states (e.g., in cases involving runaway minors or custody disputes) and limits transparency and accountability.
Unconstitutional Overbreadth: Provisions restricting speech and expression near facilities echo laws struck down or narrowed elsewhere for violating the First Amendment. New Jersey should not enact laws likely to face successful legal challenges at taxpayer expense.
No one is born in the wrong body. The science does not substantiate cross-sex hormones, puberty blockers, or mutilation procedures such as double mastectomies, total removal of reproductive parts on male children and female children, based on a transient adolescent emotional ideation.

This legislation does not balance rights β it elevates one set of interests while suppressing dissent, parental authority, and public oversight. True healthcare protections do not require silencing opposing voices or shielding controversial practices from scrutiny. Do NO Harm!
