Worldview Matters: Is God A Socialist?

I would not have you exchange the Gold of Individual Christianity for the Base Metal of Christian Socialism.Charles SpurgeonSocialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the Gospel of Envy.Winston Churchill

The Center for Garden State Families would like to continue our series on Worldview. It is especially critical in light of what we hear concerning inequality, social justice, and the redistribution of wealth schemes imposed upon us.

Christians uphold a Biblical Worldview, and as such, we are told in 1 John 4:1 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” We are warned to test everything that we encounter in this world against the Word of God to determine its veracity of truth or its deceitful nature.

As we read in our previous article, the answer to whether or not God is a Socialist and a Social Justice Warrior comes down to the question of ownership and the use of acquired private property. From a Biblical Worldview, it is understood that God Own’s It All and has granted dominion of the earth to man and not its sovereignty.

From a New Testament perspective it is important to note that the Lord Jesus Christ deals with each one of us on an individual basis. Psalm 139:13-14 says, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” Therefore, God, through His Sovereignty, molded within each individual their purpose, calling, and economic position in life. God does not do this on a collective basis because our relationship with the Father is through Jesus Christ, who judges our hearts for God.

Before we continue, we would like to define what the word Sovereignty means. The Sovereignty of God is the Christian teaching that God is the supreme authority, and all things are under His control. Easton’s Bible Dictionary defines God’s Sovereignty as His “absolute right to do all things according to his own good pleasure.” Including the ability for man to acquire private property for his personal use and well as to perpetuate the Kingdom of God. Also, it cannot be overlooked that God gave His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to take away the sins of the world and to reconcile us to Himself. In conformity with the idea of Biblical Sovereignty, it was God’s pleasure to send His Son to this earth.

Now let’s contrast this with another worldview. Karl Marx called for the abolition of private property and called for state ownership of the means of production. Therefore, Karl Marx, an Atheist who did not believe in God nor His Sovereignty, sought that Sovereignty for himself and his partners in crime. We see the words of Winston Churchill declaring Karl Marx as the Chief Architect of the Gospel of Envy. Communism and Socialism are a distortion of God’s Supreme Authority and Control. Communism and Socialism seek to concentrate all power and control in the hands of a few who pull the levers of government. This destroys the free markets and, more importantly, creates a welfare state that severs our inalienable rights that have been bestowed upon us by God the Creator.

The mechanism of this stealth takeover involves leveraging the human nature of greed and envy. Alexis de Tocqueville said, “ I have a passionate love for liberty, law, and respect for rights. Liberty is my foremost passion. But one also finds in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to want to bring the strong down to their level, and which reduces men to preferring equality in servitude to inequality in freedom. Equality is a slogan based on envy. It signifies in the heart; Nobody is going to occupy a place higher than I.”   This, we might add, also includes God. Because of man’s alienation from God and his rebellion against God, we see nothing new under the sun as it pertains to tyranny and the desire for man to consolidate his power and control over others as if he is playing God.

Many Christians have read and heard the scripture from Leviticus 18:21, which says, “You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.” In his book, God vs. Socialism, Joel McDurmon writes the following in his section on Kings and Total Sacrifice. “In the Samuel passage, the Hebrew uses the standard word for “king” – mlk, or Melech.

his common word appears all through the Old Testament, but when referring to a particular practice of neighboring pagan divine-king States, the Hebrew scribes replaced the vowels with those from the Hebrew word boseth, “shame.” The resulting name Molech refers to the pagan total-State, the great tyrannies incurred where the civil State usurped the place of God and worship in society and demanded the ultimate sacrifice.” Whether the average person believes it or not, every single day, our children are being sacrificed to Molech with all kinds of Socialist ideas and practices that seek to usurp the place of God in our lives.

One of the more disturbing ideas that we are now contending with involves Jesus Christ as Social Justice Warrior and Master Redistributionist of Wealth. Before we continue, we would like to point out that there are over 2,350 verses in the Bible that pertain to money, which involves the Biblical Principles of Money Management and Stewardship.

Also, Jesus Christ in the New Testament spoke more about money than He did regarding Heaven and Hell. Because of this, many see His words admonishing the rich as the platform for which social justice and redistribution of wealth must occur, thinking this type of thinking is Christian.  What few seek to do is put Jesus Christ into His first-century environment. The average reader of the New Testament Scriptures then tends to divorce Jesus from his economy.

Doug Stuart, CEO of the Libertarian Christian Institute, explains the following: “The New Testament was written during a time with a very different economic and sociopolitical situation from our own. Being rich in the first century was not due to free-market engagement in highly productive enterprises, but from being part of the privileged class where labor was exploited in the ugliest of ways

Nor was being poor about having a lousy work ethic or random misfortune. Economic status was not as fluid as in free markets; people could not just “move up the ladder,” and widespread economic growth did not depend on open markets as we have in capitalism. So, of course, under conditions of exploitation (not voluntary exchange), we would expect nothing less than for Jesus to give warnings to that type of rich person!”

Also, the economist Jerry Bowyer emphasized this point on the weekly radio show called A Neighbors Choice when he said, “The anti-wealth passages in the New Testament are always in the context of state exploitation of the poor. Jesus never, anywhere in the Gospels, confronts a single person in entrepreneurial Galilee, where he was from, about wealth. All of his confrontations about wealth occur after he goes down to Judea, which is the political capital of that ancient region.”

What is quite ironic is that many a Socialist use specific passages of scripture and one’s that Jesus spoke regarding the rich as justification for equality, social justice, and redistribution of wealth. They do not realize that he is delivering His message to them. They are the ones who seek to confiscate, tax, regulate, and redistribute wealth for their benefit under the guise of helping the poor and disadvantaged. They are the ones who seek centralized power and control, creating their own Molech State.

It should now be clear that God is not a Socialist. He is against any human control of others and, more importantly, through subjugation and authoritarian tyranny by using an economic system that perverts His own.

In our next article, we will delve into the sordid Worldview of Karl Marx, who was the Father of Communist Lies and inspired the murder of millions. You, dear reader, will see Worldview matters because it can have devastating implications not only in our personal lives but for entire nations that fall victim to it.
