Support Kinnelon Parental Rights Policy Stand with Us to Protect Families!

For years, the Center for Garden State Families has been on the front lines defending parental rights across New Jersey. We have consistently, for the past 10 years, fought against government overreach in our schools and for the fundamental right of parents to know what their children are being taught — especially on sensitive issues of sexuality and gender ideology.
Now, parents in Kinnelon have another opportunity to secure these protections. The Kinnelon Board of Education is considering Policy 9125 – the Parental Bill of Rights. This vital policy will require schools to notify parents in advance about lessons or materials involving human sexuality, gender identity, or personal matters — and affirm families’ right to review content and opt out.
We strongly urge you to contact the Board today in support of immediate adoption of Policy 9125.
This fight is personal for Kinnelon families. In March 2022, 6th–8th graders at Pearl R. Miller Middle School were shown a video clip from “Ten Years on Testosterone” featuring transgender activist Aydian Dowling, along with extensive gender ideology vocabulary — all without prior parental notification or consent. The elected Board was unaware, and transparency only surfaced after students informed their parents.

It is not the role of government schools to keep secrets from parents. Parents — not administrators — are the primary guardians of their children’s moral, ethical, and spiritual formation. Abuse hides in secrecy. Abuse thrives in secrecy.
Policy 9125 will help prevent future incidents by requiring:
Mandatory prior notification for any curriculum, lessons, assemblies, or materials on human sexuality, gender identity, transgender issues, or related topics.
The right for parents to review materials and opt their children out without penalty.
Clear rules prohibiting schools from withholding information about a child’s asserted gender identity or social transition at school.
Proper Board oversight on sensitive curriculum decisions.
This aligns with U.S. Supreme Court precedent, including Pierce v. Society of Sisters (1925), Wisconsin v. Yoder (1972), and Mahmoud v. Taylor (2025), which affirm parents’ fundamental rights to direct the upbringing and education of their children.
