Our founding document, The Declaration of Independence, the pledge that led to the birth of this great nation we call home is celebrated on July 4th each year. We celebrate the courage of our founding fathers in freeing themselves from tyranny, and creating for us a republic which preserves for us and all future generations the freedoms of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
In making this solemn pledge, The Declaration of Independence, our founders relied upon their faith in God. We need only read the document to prove this. The founders cited “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God”, stated that all men are “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights”, and appealed “to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions…..with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence.”
A new pledge was released this June 2017 at a Gala in Washington DC. It was added to a song performed by Pat Boone at that event. “We, the People of the United States of America, in order to preserve a more perfect union; We, the Believers in the One God, in order to ensure our destiny as a people; Pledge ourselves to pray as if our national life depends upon it, as indeed it does; To pray every day for America.” Pat Boone, “In America” from Faith & Freedom Album released June 2017 at the Faith and Freedom Coalition Gala. I believe everyone in that room took Pat Boone’s pledge that evening. Will you join us?
Our founders derived their courage from their Faith, their Freedom and their Family. As we enjoy the freedoms of our great nation this Independence Day, let us remember our founders’ devotion to God, and let us praise and thank God for the gift of this great nation, our freedoms and our cherished family and friends.
