On July 4, 1776, the United States of America was formed from 13 British colonies. The government of King George III inflicted punishing taxes, onerous rules, and overwhelming infringement on the basic liberties of its American subjects. Many appeals were made to his Majesty’s court and to the parliament of the British Empire. But the tyranny continued and now the people decided to declare themselves free from their oppressors.


“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

The Declaration of Independence went on to list the crimes of the King and his government against the people of the United States of America. The War of Independence actually began on April 19, 1775, at the battles of Lexington and Concord and continued until October 1781 where the war virtually came to an end when General Cornwallis was surrounded and forced to surrender the British position at Yorktown, Virginia. Two years later on September 3, 1783, the signing of the Treaty of Paris made it official: America was independent. The entire globe shook in amazement that the small group of clustered states actually became victorious over the largest empire the world had ever seen.

Today we find ourselves in a similar situation with our own government. “Emergency powers” usurped the First Amendment. Individual rights were trampled on. The first freedom of the First Amendment encompasses more than one-third of the First Amendment, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof:” Recently the Attorney General for New Jersey apologized for the deliberate attacks and acts of hate against LGBTQXYZ-identified individuals in the 1970s. Yet there were no apologies for the attacks on people of faith in New Jersey by closing the churches, fining pastors, and taking them to court for simply exercising their constitutional freedoms. Where is the apology from the Murphy administration’s tyrannical attacks?


George Washington’s Prophetic Warning

On September 19, 1796,George Washington, in his Farewell Address as the First President of The United States, delivered a prophetic Warning about the danger to America of “cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men” who ‘usurp for themselves the reins of government.”‘

“…to put, in the place of the delegated will of the Nation, the will of a party; – often a small but artful and enterprising minority…they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunnning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the Power of the People and to usurp for themselves the reins of government; destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them in unjust dominion.”

“But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism – The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual… [who] turns this disposition to the purpose of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.”

The Prophecy Fulfilled

Since the Inauguration of Joe Biden to the Presidency of the United States, it has become transparently clear that his elevation to that position is the result of ideologically ‘cunning, ambitious and unprincipled men’ who subverted ‘the power of the people,‘ ‘usurped for themselves the reins of government,’ to replace ‘the delegated will of the nation‘ with ‘the will of a Party‘, and are ‘destroying afterward the very engines which have lifted them’ to ‘unjust dominion.”‘

Declaring Our Freedom … Again

When our Constitutional rights of freedom of speech and assembly, religious liberty, and pursuit of happiness are denied or censored and not ‘secured‘ by those sworn to protect those freedoms, is it not ‘necessary’ – as our Founders believed it to be – to ‘declare the causes‘ which ‘impel’ us to “alter” unconstitutional laws and remove from office those who exercise their assumed political power and control wrongly? Are these rights not Unalienable? Does our tolerance of these violations not lead to a ‘more formal and permanent despotism’?

And how do we do that if our concerns, opposition, and views are censored by the government and private entities who wish to control all discussion and views they do not want others to hear?

It is time for Christians and principled conservatives to heed the warning of our first President, stand up, speak out, make our voices heard in our State Capitols and Washington D.C., and remove from office those who fail to keep their sworn commitments to we-the-people.
