“Teachers in England will have to tell parents if children question their gender.”

New Jersey continues to keep parents in the dark.

In a July 17 article published by British news site The Guardian, teachers will be mandated to tell parents when their child is questioning their gender even if the young person objects under new guidance for schools in England, the Equalities Minister has indicated.

This is a big win for parental rights in the United Kingdom and the Western world. Over the last two years, several European countries, including the UK, have reversed their policies on transgender-affirming therapy. In the United States, 34 states have passed or introduced legislation restricting gender-affirming therapy for minors as of May 2023.

Under the aggressive push by Governor Phil Murphy, the New Jersey Department Of Education issued Transgender Student Guidance for School Districts in 2018 with the passage of N.J.S.A. 18A:36-41. “This policy established guidelines to provide direction for school systems in addressing common issues affecting transgender students. The policies and guidance were developed after reviewing those from other states and organizations such as GLADD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) and GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network), as well as psychologists, educators, counselors, and parents. The policies are intended to create an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment for transgender and gender-nonconforming students in our public schools. The legal rights of self-proclaimed transgender students are stressed in this seven-page student-centered document. Issues such as proper pronouns and names used to address the student, definitions of gender-related terms, school records, confidentiality, privacy, and equal access to school and gender-related activities are covered.”

Parental rights are discussed in the following excerpts from pages 2-3:

“A School District Shall Accept a Student’s Asserted Gender Identity; parental consent is not required. Further, a student need not meet any threshold diagnosis or treatment requirements to have his or her gender identity recognized and respected by the district, school, or school personnel. Nor is a legal or court-ordered name change required. There is no affirmative duty of any school district personnel to notify a student’s parent or guardian of the student’s gender identity or expression.

There may be many instances where a parent or guardian of a minor student disagrees with the student regarding the name and pronoun to be used at the school and in the student’s education records. A parent or guardian may object to the minor student’s name change request. The school district should consult their board attorney regarding the minor student’s civil rights and protections under the NJLAD (New Jersey Law Against Discrimination). Staff should continue to refer to the student in accordance with the student’s chosen name and pronoun at school and may consider providing resource information regarding family counseling and support services outside of the school district.

School districts should be mindful of disputes between minor students and parents/guardians concerning the student’s gender identity or expression. Many Support Resources Are Available through Advocacy Groups and Resources from the New Jersey Department of Children and Families and the New Jersey Department of Education’s ‘Child Abuse, Neglect, And Missing Children’ webpage.”

As you can see in the above document published by the New Jersey Department of Education with your tax dollars, all school personnel are forced to violate their own conscience and lie to a student, enable the fantasy of a student, and encourage a dangerous and fraudulent ideology inside the school. Further, no employee of any government school district is allowed to discuss the child’s behavior with the parents or legal guardian.

The state of New Jersey through Gov. Phil Murphy is forcing an establishment of a religion. No one is born LGBTQIA – XYZ+++. There is zero scientific evidence supporting gender identity as a biological fact. ZERO. Gender ideology is a faith-based assumption that has dangerous consequences for children and families.

Now it appears that the government of Great Britain sees the dangers and is responding accordingly. Parents and guardians have the God-given right to know what is happening to their children in government schools!

UK Women and Equalities Minister Kemi Badenoch said, “The new policy will ensure parents and guardians will know what’s going on with their children in the schools.”

In a report issued this June by the New Jersey Department of Education, the number of “nonbinary” students in New Jersey public schools rose by 4,218 percent in just four years. “This is a social contagion.” Said Gregory Quinlan of the Center for Garden State Families. “This is happening for one reason and one reason only. New Jersey government schools are deliberately grooming and teaching our children about these dangerous unscientific ideologies and encouraging them to act out in response to what they are being taught.”

Over the past several months, school districts across the state have been dealing with the absurdity of this policy and grappling with how to keep parents informed of their children’s safety and the potential harms that often come with gender confusion. State Atty. Gen. Matthew Platkin has sued school districts that have amended the policy to allow for parental notification. The school districts are Hanover, Marlboro, Middletown, and Manalapan. There are many schools that are quietly ignoring the policy and continue to recognize the constitutional affirmative right of a parent to know what is happening to their child in government schools.

The Center for Garden State Families has been attending Board of Education meetings across the state. We have been testifying in support of God-given, constitutional parental rights and against any and all gender-affirming policies and gender ideology. We have presented replicated scientific studies that prove all gender ideology has no basis in biological scientific fact. We will continue to inform all boards of education and elected officials, teachers, and staff about the realities and dangers of gender-affirming policies.
